5-Day Family Christmas Itinerary in Rovaniemi
Below is our suggested five-day programme, with time for Christmas activities, outdoor play and relaxed family evenings. We can adjust the order and pace around your flights, children’s ages and interests, leaving enough room for meals, warm breaks and rest.

Day 1 – Arrival and Exploring Rovaniemi
Arrival | Transfer and check-in
Travel to your accommodation, settle in and collect your rented winter clothing if arranged. Keep the first day flexible around your flights.
Afternoon | Explore the city centre
Take a walk around Rovaniemi, enjoy lunch or an early dinner, and leave time for playing in the snow. Depending on your arrival time and opening hours, you could also visit Arktikum or Korundi.
Exploring the city independently is free. Meals, transport and admission tickets are additional.
Culture Pass: €30 per adult, €10 per child aged 7–17, and free for children under seven. A family pass for two adults and two children costs €65. Includes repeat visits to Arktikum and Korundi for seven days.
Evening | Settle in
Enjoy dinner and a relaxed first evening before the Christmas activities begin.
Day 2 – Santa Claus Village and Snowy Fun
Morning | Meet Santa Claus
Explore Santa Claus Village, meet Santa and visit the Arctic Circle. Stop at the post office, browse the shops and take time to enjoy the Christmas surroundings.
Meeting Santa at Santa Claus Office is free. Photographs, purchases and transport are additional. Allow extra time for queues during the Christmas season.
Midday | Lunch and a warm break
Enjoy lunch in the village before the afternoon’s activity.
Afternoon — Option A | Ice karting
Older children and adults can try driving on ice, with instructions before heading onto the track.
Estimated price: €95 per participant. Duration: approximately one hour, including around 25 minutes of driving. Participants must be over 140 cm tall.
Afternoon — Option B | Mini snowmobiling
Younger children can enjoy a mini snowmobile experience on a dedicated children’s track.
The children’s mini-snowmobile/ATV activity is listed at €45 per participant. Participation requirements and the exact programme will be confirmed when booking.
Evening | Dinner and free time
Return to your accommodation and enjoy a quiet evening together.
Day 3 – SantaPark and Finnish Legends
Late morning/afternoon | SantaPark
Spend several hours enjoying SantaPark’s indoor Christmas attractions. Explore at your family’s pace, with time for lunch and breaks between activities.
Tickets from €42 per adult and €37 per child aged 3–12. Children under three enter free. For two adults and two children aged 3–12, admission starts at €158, plus booking fees. Transfers are additional.
The published winter season runs from 31 October 2026 to 23 January 2027. Prices vary by date and availability.
Late afternoon | Rest and dinner
Take a break and have something to eat before the evening programme.
19:00 | Finnish Legends & Tales — Night Around the Fire
Gather around the fire for an evening of Finnish legends and storytelling. Spend time together beneath the northern sky, with a possibility of seeing the Northern Lights if conditions are favourable.
Price: €75 per adult and €50 per child. Northern Lights sightings are a possibility, not a guaranteed part of the experience.
Day 4 – A Walk with Reindeer and a Family Treasure Hunt
Morning | Walk with reindeer
Meet the reindeer and enjoy a walk together through the winter surroundings. The exact starting time will be confirmed with your booking.
Price: €109 per adult and €99 per child.
Afternoon | Lunch and free time
Keep the afternoon relaxed. Play in the snow, explore a little more of Rovaniemi or return to your accommodation to rest before the evening adventure.

Enjoy a family treasure hunt and a Lapland barbecue, bringing everyone together for an evening of adventure and food.

Day 5 – Sledging in Ounasvaara and Departure
Morning | Breakfast and sledging
Enjoy breakfast before heading to Ounasvaara for sledging and snow play. Spend time on a suitable sledging hill, with warm breaks and a schedule that fits your flight.
Independent sledging: free with your own sled. Transport and any sled rental are additional.
Before departure | Return clothing and collect luggage
Return any rented winter clothing, collect your bags and prepare for your journey home.
Departure | Airport transfer
Travel to the airport with enough time for check-in.
For an early flight, we can move sledging to another free afternoon during your stay.

Northern Lights Service
Keep an available evening flexible for a dedicated Northern Lights hunt. We monitor the weather during your stay and aim to arrange your outing on a suitable night.
Price: €180 per adult; children’s prices to be confirmed. Includes one tour, with a 100% money-back guarantee if you do not see auroras on that tour. Additional tours can be purchased at a discounted price.
Usual departure: 19:00. Duration: approximately 5–8 hours. We will discuss the late return and suitability for your children before booking. This requires a separate evening from the storytelling or treasure-hunt programme.
Lappish Day
Combine snowshoeing and ice fishing with a three-course meal prepared over an open fire on a full day in Lapland’s winter landscape.
Price: €134 per adult and €120 per child. Suggested schedule: 10:00–16:00. Scheduled departures: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, subject to availability and suitability for your family.
Korouoma Frozen Waterfalls
Explore Korouoma Canyon and its frozen waterfalls on a guided winter outing. We will discuss the walking requirements and trail conditions before recommending this experience for your children.
Estimated adult price: €129. Children’s prices to be confirmed. Suggested schedule: 09:00–15:00, with departures on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, subject to availability.
Family Snowmobile Safari
Enjoy a snowmobile adventure with small groups, a pace adapted to the family and a heated children’s sleigh.
Price: €115 per adult and €85 per child. Riding time: approximately 1–1¼ hours, with additional time for equipment, instructions and transfers. Passenger arrangements depend on children’s height and suitability.
