This is the itinerary we most often put together for friends and family visiting Rovaniemi for the first time. It brings together our favourite classic winter activities and time in nature, with a pace that lets you enjoy each experience. It’s our personal introduction to Lapland and the places we love sharing.
5-Day Classic Winter Itinerary in Rovaniemi
Experience Lapland’s main winter activities on an itinerary designed with adults in mind. Enjoy huskies, snowmobiling and a day in nature, with optional experiences and time to explore Rovaniemi at your own pace.

Day 1 – Arrival & Exploring Rovaniemi
Arrival time: according to your flights | Transfer and check-in
Travel to your accommodation by taxi or your chosen transfer service. Winter clothing fitting and collection can be arranged around your arrival.
Afternoon | Lunch and free time
Settle in and explore the city centre. Depending on your arrival time and opening hours, visit Arktikum, Korundi or Pilke.
Culture pass: €30 per person.
17:00–18:00 | Suggested dinner time
Enjoy dinner in the city centre before any evening activity.
19:00 | Optional Northern Lights tour
If your arrival time and conditions allow, head out on your first evening. The tour lasts approximately 5–8 hours, returning around midnight–03:00.
€180 per person for one tour.
Day 2 – Husky Safari & Afternoon Activities

Before the safari | Transfer to the husky farm
Your pick-up time and meeting point will be confirmed separately.
11:00–12:00 | Husky safari
Enjoy a 5 km husky safari, with approximately one hour allocated to the experience.
€188 per person, including the transfer and booking fee.
12:30–13:30 | Suggested lunch break
Allow time for the return transfer before lunch.
Afternoon | Explore or join a reindeer safari
Choose a visit to Santa Claus Village, free time in Rovaniemi or the 14:30–16:30 reindeer safari. The reindeer experience covers approximately 3.5 km.
Reindeer safari: €139 per person; transfer arrangements confirmed separately.
Santa Claus Village entry is free; transport, individual attractions and purchases are separate.

Day 3 – Snowmobiling & Optional Sauna

Enjoy a 1–1.5-hour experience, leaving time for another activity or a relaxed afternoon.

Spend approximately six hours exploring the wilderness.

After the short safari | Lunch and an optional afternoon activity
Enjoy free time or join the 14:30–16:30 reindeer safari if you did not choose it on Day 2. A standalone SnowHotel visit is another option, subject to its opening season and transport arrangements.

SnowHotel entry: €35 per person, plus taxi or SnowHotel bus transport.

Choose an optional sauna experience, with time and price confirmed separately, or keep the evening available for the 19:00 Northern Lights departure.
Day 4 – A Day in Lapland’s Nature

Explore Korouoma’s winter scenery and frozen waterfalls on an approximately six-hour outing.
Available Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. €129 per person.
Alternatively, 10:00–16:00 | Lappish Day
Combine ice fishing and snowshoeing on a six-hour experience.
Available Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. €134 per person.
Alternatively, time to be confirmed | Riisitunturi National Park
Spend the day exploring Riisitunturi’s snowy landscapes. Departure time and duration will be confirmed separately.

Return any rented clothing and collect your luggage.
According to your flight schedule | Airport transfer
Travel to Rovaniemi Airport by your chosen taxi or transfer service. Airport transport is paid separately.
What’s Included
This is a customisable itinerary. Your final quote will specify the activities you have selected; the alternatives are not all included together.
- Husky safari: the €188 price includes the 5 km experience, transfer and booking fee.
- Snowmobiling: your selected short safari, SnowHotel safari or wilderness safari, as specified in your quote.
- Nature excursion: your selected Korouoma, Riisitunturi or Lappish Day experience, as specified in your quote.
- Northern Lights service, when booked: one tour for €180 per person, with weather monitoring during your stay and a 100% refund if no auroras are seen on that tour.
- Activity-specific services: equipment, meals and transfers only where stated in the individual activity description and your booking confirmation.

Booking & Activity Choices
- The itinerary covers five days in Rovaniemi and can be adapted to your travel dates and preferred pace.
- Choose one main snowmobile experience on Day 3 and one nature excursion on Day 4.
- Optional activities are added separately to your quote.
- Some activities operate only on selected weekdays, so the order of Days 2–4 may change.
- Prices shown are per person. Your final quote depends on your chosen activities and clothing-rental duration.
Timings & Pick-up
- Exact activity pick-up times and meeting points will be confirmed separately.
- Listed end times are approximate and may not include transfers.
- Breakfast, lunch and dinner slots are suggested planning times.
- Arrival and departure days are kept flexible around your flights.
- Afternoon additions must allow sufficient time for transfers. The reindeer safari cannot be combined with either full-day snowmobile option on the same day.
Accommodation
- We’re happy to recommend partner holiday apartments and resorts, but we do not provide or book accommodation.
- You book directly with your chosen property.
- City-centre accommodation offers convenient access to restaurants, shops and free-time activities.
- A private apartment provides independence and the option to prepare meals.
- Resorts outside the city offer quieter surroundings but usually require more transport planning.
Airport & Independent Transfers
- Airport transport is arranged and paid for separately.
- Options include Menevä, Uber, Bolt or another taxi service.
- We’re happy to help you plan transport arrangements.
- Independent visits to Santa Claus Village or SnowHotel require separate transport unless included in a selected activity.
Winter Clothing
- Rent a winter overall and boots from us for €10 per person per day.
- A discount is available for multi-day rental.
- The total rental price, fitting and return arrangements will be confirmed before your stay.
Northern Lights Service
- We check the weather each evening and aim to take you out on the first suitable night.
- €180 per person includes one tour, with weather monitoring throughout your stay.
- Departure is at 19:00, with a duration of approximately 5–8 hours.
- 100% money back if you do not see auroras on the tour.
- Evening listings in the itinerary represent possible nights for that one outing, not a tour included every night.
- Additional tours can be booked at a discounted price if you would like another experience.
- The Aurora is a natural phenomenon; its brightness, colour and duration vary.
- Late returns will be considered when planning the following morning’s activities or departure.
Meals & Restaurants
- Meals are paid for separately unless specifically included in a booked activity.
- We’ll recommend restaurants after learning your food preferences.
- City-centre lunch buffets can be a convenient option between activities.
- Let us know about dietary requirements when planning your programme.
- In Finland and Rovaniemi there is a lot of places with Lunch buffe for reasonable price.
Extra Activities
- Optional experiences include reindeer safaris, traditional Finnish sauna, ice floating, museums and SnowHotel visits.
- Extra activities are subject to availability and additional charges.
- If Aurora conditions are unsuitable, we can help arrange another evening experience.
- Museum visits depend on opening hours, and SnowHotel visits depend on its operating season.
