Ice Fishing & Fish Tasting near Rovaniemi

Join us for a traditional Lappish ice-fishing and dining experience on a fully frozen lake or river, up to 40 km from Rovaniemi. This 4-hour small-group adventure combines peaceful Arctic scenery, hands-on fishing and the flavours of Lapland.
Your experience begins when you meet your guide. If you need extra warmth, high-quality winter clothing is available for a small additional fee—just let us know in advance by email. During the drive, your guide will share stories about Lapland’s nature, waterways and local ice-fishing traditions.
The fishing location is selected according to the day’s ice conditions. On arrival, you’ll receive a short safety briefing and a hands-on introduction to the equipment. Your guide will show you how to drill a fishing hole and teach you the best techniques for attracting a catch.
While waiting for a bite, enjoy hot drinks and the peaceful Arctic scenery. You can also try drilling through the ice to discover how thick it becomes in the heart of winter.
The highlight is a fireside tasting featuring fish prepared in two different ways. Taste traditional gravlax served on roasted bread, accompanied by fresh fish roe on a cracker with crème fraîche. You’ll also enjoy a fresh fish fillet cooked over the open fire and served with vegetables.
If you catch a good-sized edible fish, your guide can clean and prepare it over the fire. Even if the fish are not biting that day, fish will still be provided for the tasting, so every guest can enjoy the full dining experience.
After this peaceful yet exciting adventure, we’ll return you comfortably to your accommodation in Rovaniemi.

About us

We started this journey with a simple philosophy: bring back the small, meaningful touches of travel that we love to share when family or friends visit. Keep it real, take your time to enjoy the experience, and give your best to every moment – beautiful places, healthy time outdoors, learning about nature, and connecting with the Lappish lifestyle.

We are two travel enthusiasts who turned our passion into a company after decades of working in tourism and hospitality, both in Lapland and beyond.
